If you can afford to empower them and can do them without dying, you'll be able to snag +5 gem levels per run and you will notice your damage and defense improve sharply as the gem levels up (up to a maximum of 375% damage per legendary or 750% per ancient). And once you get it, you'll need to continue doing GRs to level it up (GR needs to be +9 levels higher than gem level for 100% upgrade chance). You just need to get the LoD gem as quickly as possible. the lowest level GR is a little easier than the lowest lobby difficulty available and it drops the same legendary gems. If you're unable to play seasons and unable to get someone to carry you for gear, the best option is to run greater rifts (GRs) until you get the Legacy of Dreams (LoD) gem. It's possible to wallow in the low torment quagmire for AGES. I can't really stress enough how important it is to focus on getting to t16. Every elite is dropping tons of Death Breath (outfit your follower with a set of crafted Sage's ASAP). By t16, pretty much every single chest has a legendary. ![]() So your number one goal is to get to t16 ASAP, even if you're not super-fast or long-lived at first. ![]() And the faster you can farm, the stronger you become. the stronger you are, the faster you can farm. ![]() It greatly smooths the progression because each of the six-piece sets represent a large power bump. The main thing you're missing is the Haedrig's Gift you earn via completing the first four chapters of the Season Journey questline.
